Formerly Blank Postcards

As I am on speaking terms with a lot of my family, I sometimes throw them a little correspondence, and lately I've discovered the joy of those special postcards sold at the post office.
` Why are these so special? Well... they're blank and I'm an artist. Why do you suppose?

I think Violet has a good enough answer; "It means that Mommy will sit still long enough for me to pin her to the chair!"

In all seriousness, 'Gramma' definitely enjoyed this one:

My half-brother, I'm assuming, liked this one also, though I haven't yet heard back from him since I started on my 'sending off all my old postcards' craze at the end of September.

I have to add - since I drew this by actually looking out the window, I have to admit how tricky it is to draw a scene all while the weather keeps changing. At least it's easier when you buy special leads for your mechanical pencils.

Moving on, I haven't yet sent this one but I'm not sure I want to....

disturbing

It's just... a bit disturbing, don't you think? I'm sure she'll have a good laugh and be happy to see something come in from me.

Anyway, as it's just after ten, I promised myself I'd go off to bed just after posting this. I have a loooong day ahead of me on my second day of work - I'm leaving at six and won't be back until eight at night!
` So excited!

P.S.: Here's the exciting conclusion to this post!

1. Violet looks like a real pal!

2. I looked at the photo of your house on your other blog, and I can tell there is a noticeable difference between the two... that's probably Lou Ryan's doing, isn't it?

3. I can't tell how accurate the view is from looking at other photos, though, because there's too much fog in the way, but it looks like you spent a lot of time working on small details. I see what must be the train... are those horses just above it?

4. The words 'special leads' confused me, until I realized you meant pencil lead! Can you buy B and H and F like regular wooden art pencils?

5. I really do like the 'disturbing' one... it's really nice! The eyes are a little wonky (as usual), but I think you must be doing this on purpose, on some level. I do hope you're sending it!

4. Remember how to relax and have fun (and blog) okay? I know it's been hard for you when you were going to school. Well, I hope all that time=management stuff has paid off!

See you this weekend!

Whoops, haven't responded to the comments in here yet!

Thanks, Middle Ditch! I do appreciate! And I did send the disturbing postcard!

Galtron - you and your lists are getting out of control!

2. You are correct. Then again, I'd already told you something about that in advance, so I may or may not be right in calling you 'astute'.

3. You actually look closely at pictures? You're astute this time; they are cows, not horses, but who can tell?

4. Yes, art stores do carry a number of different 'art pencil' leads.
