` I finally have my head out of the clouds and my feet off the ground - that's right, I'm indoors for once! As I've promised, I have some more drawings from My Twisted Little World that may really be worth a peek!
` As beaten-down, broken and lacking in all spontaneity as I had been in my late teens, it wasn't surprising that for a few years I had a lot of trouble finding subjects to draw in either of the sketchbooks I had at the time.
` But then, I went back to an old habit of mine... drawing commercial packaging! In doing that, I made a nifty little 'ad' for Ivory Soap... inspired by a pet robin I once had.
` That is the rattiest-looking robin I've ever seen! Well, that whole thing was all the detail I had patience for with my ten-minute attention span....
` Next up is my Katie-Girl lying around and being cute (once again), as well as Slim-Fast, Silk and 8th Continent soy milk containers!
` I admit, that's only a little weird, and I'm guessing I had a cocoa-and-soy bean craving at the time, and, probably that was also the time I was twenty pounds heavier than I am now, except without the muscles....
` On the next page I poked fun of the ABC miniseries Dinotopia (2002), which came out around the same time as Walking with Prehistoric Beasts, hence the wandering Chalicothere.
` The point was, I saw that the Brachiosaurus looked like a plastic toy dinosaur! So, to contrast I added my own two plastic toy dinosaurs, and I rather think they look more realistic - at least they would if the Tyrannosaurus was not trying to eat the Troll of Love.
` (It may be of interest to note that I had just gotten a box-full of trolls from a crazy person and spent much of my time distracting myself from my woes by finding ways to destroy them one by one. The Troll of Love, however, was spared for comical decorative purposes...)
` The cat, by the way, is Katie-Girl's sister, Ashlie, who is (amazingly) still alive at eighteen years of age! Also, the boy is... well, you'll see in my next post!
` Last of all I think most people would actually think this is kind of neat because it is a real demonstration of just how much fourteen years of drawing practice can make!
` I have always been a fan of dinosaurs, so, when I found some old drawings from my torturous first grade years I realized that this was a golden opportunity to trace the old drawings and then draw my most recent renditions....
` Apparently, talent does not make one artistic without practice, discipline and refinement... so thank goodness I drew all through elementary school instead of doing my schoolwork! (My PsychoDad didn't let me draw very much at home.) Yes, goofing off to distract myself from my overwhelming troubles actually paid off for once!
` Well, I hope that anyone who saw this post thought it wasn't a total waste of time. I'll be back with more, similar kinds of odds and ends, and then a stimulating trip through an art museum!

Oh, NOW the comments work!! Thought I'd try again, just for the hell of it.
I wanted to add that for a six year old those drawings are amazing. Glad you're still in practice!
You were 6 in 1988?
Good Job Little Spooney!
xox
` Yeh, yeh, yeh... it's like seeing How It Began.
I really like the crow/blackbird.
` Thanks, Amber! By the way, it's not a blackbird, which I mentioned:

[Caption - Ivory Soap: The soap preferred by robins everywhere!]
` That is the rattiest-looking robin I've ever seen!
` It may be well-drawn for a crow, but really badly-drawn for a robin!
